Big shoes to fill! The shot for SHE magazine that Walter Rambaldini took when I was laughing. I love this memory.

SHE magazine again; part of the same great editorial shoot with Walter and stylist Fiona Milne.

When I feel the earliest creeping feeling of depression, I make a point of setting my alarm earlier in the morning, so I have time to talk myself out of bed. I break my day up into tiny pieces instead of thinking about the whole day, which is too overwhelming. I talk to myself, tell myself to get up and get in the shower. Go and make a coffee. Get dressed in whatever I want. I give myself simple instructions: ‘drive to the office’; ‘answer the phone’; ‘respond to that email’.

I try to think of it like it’s the flu. It’s going to hang around for a few days or a few weeks, but it will eventually go away. I try to keep moving. I make sure to walk every day, through the bush or along the water with my dog. I surround myself with things that make me smile: beautiful views, gorgeous flowers and happy dogs. I pull out all the little wonders of my world to counteract the negative. I find the wins and arm myself with them.
